NOONS began as a creative space and boutique for independent makers in Phoenix, Arizona. After a move to Portugal and a needed pause, it continues as the namesake of a more intimate, hands-on project, adorning garments by hand.
This was the first top I made. The beads came from a little shop in Lisbon. The crochet thread is from my mom’s old stash. The t-shirt belonged to my dad—maybe from the 90s? And the crystal quartz beads were from a necklace I took apart, one I used to wear.

I found a print of Paul Gauguin’s When Will You Marry? (Nafea faa ipoipo?, 1892) in an antique store here in Porto and felt an immediate connection. It loosely inspired this shirt—a quiet longing for someone out there, though that out there is more like something within myself. A desire to bring two parts of me together. Looking at it now, it feels both restrained and wild.

Hand-embroidered and beaded vintage cotton t-shirt; vintage beads, crystal quartz accents.
